Hello and welcome to Lithuania page. Here, I'll try to talk about a thing or two and attempt to bring justice to this small, often overlooked Baltic country. Seeing as it once occupied large swaths of modern Ukraine, Poland and all of Belarus all on horseback, I'd say Lithuania was for a long time punching well above its own weight.
Short history
At its height, Lithuania entered a personal union with Poland where the two states formed the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Though, by the 17-18th century its power was greatly dimished through repeated invasions from the Russians, Swedes, Ottomans and more after which it was partitioned thrice and eventually in the 1790s ceased to exist with Lithuania being swallowed by the Russian Empire.
20th Century
Lithuania, in 1918 after the collapse of the Russian Empire regained independence though was again occupied by the Soviet Union (1940) and briefly by the Third Reich with the German invasion of the USSR (1941). In 1944, Lithuania was annexed by the Soviets again and in 1990 Lithuania became the first Soviet republic to formally secede from the Soviet Union, giving it full independence once more.

Lithuania forms part of the Baltic page ring, a ring for the countries of the Baltics located in the Eastern Europe.

Population makeup
Mostly Lithuanians, though a significant Russian population left by the centuries of rule under Moscow is also present. Vilnius, Lithuania's capital and the surrounding area also have a large amount of Poles, mostly built up after the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Poland's annexation of Vilnius after the First World War. During the late 19th and 20th centuries, many Lithuanians left the country (mostly for the U.S.) and again in 2004 after joining the European Union.
