Why does this page look like this?

As of 30/10/2025, I've started on trying to build this website from the ground up, which includes re-doing every single country portal. Instead of just reusing the same template over and over again, I've decided to try and be more creative with each portal. Also taking the time to add atleast a few pages before moving on to the next country. Be a little more in-depth. What's currently visible is under construction and will probably be subject to change.

History

The general consensus is that the original Spanish state came to be in 1469 when the two major kingdoms of the Iberian peninsula, Castille and Aragon, united to become one. Only 24 years later after becoming a new kingdom, Spain in 1493, set up a colony on the Americas.

Politics

Today, Spain is a constitutional monarchy. Its royal family doesn't yield any real influence over Spanish governance, as that lies in the hands of the Prime Minister and the Spanish parliament called the Cortes Generales. The country was formerly ruled as a dictatorship by Francisco Franco until he died in 1975.

Culture

Primarily known for siestas, a phenomenon where one takes a rest or nap during the afternoon due to the hot climate. Though this is uncommon for anywhere outside of rural Spain, especially the south. Flamenco, the peformative dance Spain is stereotyped for, was developed by gitanos (Roma) and also has its origins tracing back to the south.
